Cleanplate republishes public restaurant inspection records from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and translates them into plain English. We show the numeric inspection score behind the letter grade, the violations the inspector recorded, and how a place has scored over time. We translate the official record; we do not change it.
Cleanplate is for general information only. It is not medical, health, or professional advice, and it is not a guarantee of any restaurant's safety or condition. An inspection is a snapshot of a single day. A high score is not a promise that a place is safe, and a low score does not mean you will get sick. Use your own judgment.
Plain-English summaries, severity labels, and "bottom line" notes are our interpretation of the official record's own categories and point values. They are opinions based on disclosed public facts, not new factual claims about any business.
We work from a county data feed that the county publishes on a lag, so the newest inspections may not appear here right away. Records can contain errors or fall out of date. If you believe something is wrong, or a place has been re-inspected, tell us at cleanplate.app/corrections and we will review and correct it promptly.
Cleanplate is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
